On January 10, Jack Ma, the chairman of the board of directors of Alibaba had a meeting with Trump, the elected president of America. The meeting last for 40 minutes.
The meeting is mainly about the development and employment of middle and small-sized enterprises. Jack Ma also mentioned Alibaba’s expanding plan in America, in which Alibaba will provide more than 1 million positions in America through helping small-sized enterprises to sell their products to China and other countries in Asia.
According to Jack Ma, Alibaba will focus on clothes, wine, agricultural products and fruits. Small companies in the mid-west of America can sell their service and products to Asia on Alibaba’s platform, especially to the market of southeastern Asia.
In 2016, Alibaba was listed in the blacklist of “notorious market” published by the office United States Trade Representative Office because of Alibaba’s selling fake and infringing products. To Alibaba who has been a listed company in the US and seeking chance to expand the market of America, the meeting with Trump is a turning point.
During the meeting, Trump introduced the trend of development and new forms of consumption in America. Trump also said that china changing from a manufacturing country to a consuming country means opportunities to small companies and consumers in America.
With the platform of Alibaba, products of small enterprises can easily get involved in the global cross-border trade. Compared with paying for people who live in America, it is also more safe and convenient for Chinese consumers to buy local American products on Alibaba’s protected platform.
