Cool Rhythm is holding their last show of 2016 on Friday, December 10. The band will begin preparing for their first EP album recording after the show.
Formed after a year of collaboration between guitarist Gong Zhao, blues harpist Zhang Xiaosong and jazz drummer Wu Zhijun, the band’s lineup includes plenty of unplugged blues and funk.
For their last show of the year, the band will perform classics such as “Jasmine,” “Song of Freedom” and “I Am Useless,” as well as four new originals.
Gong was born in Beijing and began studying piano at two and violin at six. In 2009, she studied electric guitar with Liu Yijun, the lead guitarist of Tang Dynasty. Gong has cooperated with more than 10 bands. Her father played the banhu, a two-string traditional instrument, and she learned Eastern and Western music forms by middle school
Zhang is the first blues harp specialist in China. He has cooperated with many musicians from abroad as well as Chinese singers such as Sun Nan, Han Hong and Jiang Yuheng. He released his original blues harmonica album One Person’s Song in 2015.
